Jodi Whitlock of Corporate Event Interactive tells us about how their team got started, where she likes to vacation (don’t forget the wine!) and what’s coming up for CEI.

What made you get into this business?

CEI began as a traditional event planning company. We quickly discovered an affinity for the teambuilding and interactive part of the events we planned. Our creativity and desire for fun at work really made the decision for us!

What is the most fascinating part of your business that people wouldn’t know about?

Our warehouse??? Ha ha, no really, how often we see a new game show or reality TV show and try to figure out a way to bring it to our clients! Because we know they’ll be asking for it soon!

If you could tell your younger self one thing about the business that would prove invaluable, what would it be?

It’s play. Be flexible and have fun! If you’re having fun, the guests will have fun. It’s contagious.

Where was your last vacation and what is your dream vacation?

Mine personally was Sedona, AZ. The bosses went to Seattle last summer.

Our collective dream vacation is probably some remote location in Europe. Preferably with wine. Lots of wine – like serious amounts.

What would you attempt if you knew you could not fail.

“There are two ways to live your life – one is as though nothing is a miracle, the other is as though everything is a miracle.”

~Albert Einstein

What was the most influential book you ever read?

Many Lives Many Masters by Brian L Weiss – though it is not a business book!

What’s your favorite thing about partnering with Catalyst Ranch?

So many things it’s hard to pick a favorite! The space is awesome – so colorful, creative and fun. And the staff – your Ranch Hands are the best! Helpful, attentive, friendly…

What are you most looking forward to in the future (in general or business-related)?

Running our new Room Escape concept – we have two that we’ve developed – Trapped in the Tropics and Titanic Panic.

What musical instrument describes your best feature?

What are you most proud of?

The relationships CEI has developed with so many fantastic people in the hospitality industry in Chicago. There are so many talented people that we are lucky to work with!
