Welcome back to #WeddingWednesday, our semi-weekly column where we bring you wedding tips, tricks, crafts, interviews, inspirations, and interesting Chicago wedding happenings from Chicago’s creative wedding venue, Catalyst Ranch.
Halloween candy, apple cider, and pumpkin-flavored everything are already appearing in stores, signaling the beginning of fall. For those of you (like me!) who are still holding on for dear life to summer, we can still enjoy the sunshine and Chicago’s gorgeous lakefront while we find inspiration in the autumn landscape to plan the perfect fall wedding! Here are five reasons to get excited about fall weddings!
1. Outdoor Photo Ops
Outdoor photos of the happy couple against the gorgeous backdrop of changing leaves are a must! Fall temperatures can be hard to predict, so don’t let your best gal pals freeze! Give each of your bridesmaids a pretty pashmina as a gift! We found these lovely affordable Pashminas in a variety of great autumn colors on Etsy!
2. Speaking of Color . . .
Use bold colors in your bouquet and floral arrangements! Purple is dramatic, on trend, and works well with orange, the right shades of red, and other vibrant fall colors. Let traditional white flowers serve as the “pop of color” in a bold purple bouquet!
3. Seasonal Desserts
Carmel apples are a fall favorite and these mini caramel apples are sure to delight your guests, especially if they are beautifully displayed like these delicious treats!
4. Metallic Details
The most fitting metallics for fall are the less traditional pewter, copper, and bronze tones. You can incorporate a splash of metallic drama in unexpected ways including the groom’s boutonniere, centerpiece vases, napkin rings, bridesmaid’s accessories, and framed photos of the couple and their families. Candlelight has always been associated with romance, but there is something extra special about warm cozy candlelight in the fall. Use lanterns or cool mixed metal candle holders to give the room that gorgeous glow!
5. Pumpkin Everything!!!
If you want to incorporate pumpkins into your décor without going full-on Halloween, use mini pumpkins to make adorable place card holders!
