Welcome guest blogger, Meredith Woolard, Client Services Director at Catalyst Ranch, Chicago’s most creative meeting venue.  In addition to helping our clients coordinate their meetings and making sure they receive the red carpet treatment from start to finish, Meredith is our go-to-gal for tips on healthy living! She kindly shares her knowledge about super-foods, the importance of physical activities and meditation exercises with the Ranch Hands.  Today, you can toss that sugary energy drink into the recycling bin because Meredith is sharing the foods you’ll want to eat to keep the positive energy flowing throughout your offsite meeting!

Forget the sugar, forget the coffee and the sodas.  Add these seven natural, healthy foods to your meeting for lasting energy and focus throughout the day!

1. Citrus.

Just smelling citrus fruits will provide a burst of energy! They revitalize the senses and stimulate alertness. Citrus fruits are super hydrating which helps with sluggishness and provide natural sugars that keep your blood sugar from wildly fluctuating.

2. Bran Cereal.

High-fiber cereals contain betaine, which improves cell function and prevents dehydration.

3. Water.

Speaking of dehydration…sometimes we feel sluggish if we’re dehydrated. So keep that H2O nearby and drink before you become thirsty.

4. Eggs.

High in iron and protein, these babies will give you sustainable energy throughout the day. Eggs are also high in tyrosine, an amino acid that boosts alertness and reflexes.

5. Beans.

Protein packed energy capsules that have the perfect protein/carbohydrate balance, they improve energy and brain function.

6. Dark Leafy Greens.

Become best friends with kale, spinach and other leafy greens and you’ll reap the benefits of vitamin B12 and folate, which are necessary for proper brain functioning.

7. Dark Chocolate.

We’re talking really dark, with the highest concentration of cacao. Cacao has been shown to fight stress, boost energy and help with focus.

You can find all these great foods right here at the Ranch! We’ve just introduced our new seasonal Spring menu which includes tons of delicious, nutritious and energizing options that will keep you awake and feeling empowered all day long.
