At Catalyst Ranch, Chicago’s most creative meeting venue, we host a series of events that are open to the public wherein thought leaders come to share their insights.  Our Matchbooks series is a quarterly review of books on business innovation and creativity to ignite the imagination.  Join us for light refreshments, an insightful presentation, and lively discussion as we welcome Jeff Bauer on Tuesday, April 1!

This thought-provoking presentation shows why we can learn more from weather forecasts than from business stories, as revealed in his new book Upgrading Leadership’s Crystal Ball: Five Reasons Why Forecasting Must Replace Predicting and How to Make the Strategic Change in Business and Public Policy

Predicting and forecasting are not the same thing; expert predictions can rob us of the opportunity to create better futures from the realm of possibilities — potential outcomes not revealed by trend analysis.  Although Jeff Bauer has a Ph.D. in a predictive science, he draws on his prior training as a weatherman to explain why we should abandon big data and start looking at the future like meteorologists instead.

You’ll leave this presentation with a new, better, and fun way to approach the future!
